Title: Italian email
Post by: Proflexman on November 02, 2006, 03:41:32 am
I have had two emails sent to one address and one to another from some Italian looking for a show perfect carbon bike.
I have ignored them because I dont know how he managed to find both address's I use and all three emails are worded the same.

Does anyone know how I can obtain his ip address and run a search on him???

Well, I answered the guy like this:

"Hi. My name is Ricardo.
Unfortunately, my answer is no. I do not have one, but I also want one, or a x57 frame type...
Sorry not to help you with this, but it seems you want the same as me!!!
:))))
Regards, Ricardo.

He answered about a half an hour later with this answer:

"THANKS FOR THE ANSWER!! GOODBYE AND GOOD LUCK. ALEX"

It may be a genuine question. How he got the emails, I do not know, but I always use webmail, not outlook.

Regards, Ricardo.

Make sure he pays via Western Union or one of the other direct money wiring services that scammers usually use... That way, if you get the money, you know he can't take it back...

Hi everybody, I'm Alex from Rome, sorry that you're worried about the mails, but I took the addresses on the forum the ones that weren't hidden, but maybe I send more than once because I didn't know how to use the forum!!! I have two e-mai addresses I use one at work, but sometimes I give both. I am really looking for a K2 5500 carbon frame because it's quite impossible to find it in Italy, so if you want to help me I would be very grateful, but if this means that you don't trust me I prefer not to log your forum anymore!
thank you for your attention and sorry again
bye alex999s

You're not the only one that would like a carbon frame.  I doubt anyone really has one sitting around to sell to you.  the best way to find one is to check eBay and wait for someone to post one for auction.  Good Luck!

It's not a matter of trust, it's just unusual for us to receive an email from someone that hasn't posted on the forum.

See you around.

Those of us that have carbons are understandably wary. A little paranoia once in a while never hurt anybody.

Glad you covet a carbon. Took me some years to get  mine.

Alex welcome to the site.Keep an eye on the "for sale" thread above, the more attentive amongst us post links there to just about every proflex or K2 mtb product that comes up for sale, and a carbon does come up evey now and then.
Good luck!I suggest that if emailling people say who you are AND how you got their email address.People stop worrying about spammers and viruses and worms etc etc.

Alex999's
glad all the confusion is cleared up

you need to tell us what size frame your after ??

Large or Medium etc

I take it as you want a carbon frame you don't mind
which model
so you would be happy with a 4500 5500 or an Oz ??

I'll keep an eye out for you.

Simon.

Alex,
You sure have great places to ride. When I lived in Calabria ('89-'91) I rode a steel Bianchi MTB (Che casino!) After a year the frame split at the headset.
I wish I had a Proflex back then! Great mountains and trails everywhere. At least I had sailboards for the beaches. Not many places (besides California) where you can ski, windsurf, and mountain bike within a few miles of each other on the same day.
Maybe I'll go back there and make wine & cheese...  dolce far niente.

Hi  Alex,
Its a good bike, I had the same problem, because there was not 4500s, 5500s and ozs in Spain. So I bought on ebay on september from US.

Happy trails from Andalucia

Hi Colin.

How about the 5500? Have you sold it yet?
I sent you a PM a few days ago, but I had no answer...
Can you answer me back?

Cheers from Portugal, Ricardo.

Hi Colin.

I saw your bike listed in ebay, but it is a little out of my league (price...)... I'm saving for an ecological Toyota Prius, and right now every bit of money makes a difference...

Thank you.

Cheers, Ricardo.
