Title: 1998 Proflex animal- need new shock
Post by: brutalgirl22 on September 23, 2006, 06:28:01 am
Is there anyplace that I can get a replacement for my rear shock?  I have poked around online to no avail and my bike shop has said that it is shot and they can't get parts.  If I can't get a new shock the bike is dead.  Are there any modern shocks that will fit this bike?  Any help would be fabulous. Thanks.
PS it is the K2 smart shock for the rear.

You are correct. It is the one that goes through the seat tube. That is why I am having a hard time finding one with such a long attachment.  By any chance you remember where you saw it?

I saw one on ebay just recently under the noleen catagory.

Noleen shock service may be able to help you also.

Yes!

It was me who upped it in the ebay section.
That was because the guy demanded 200 euros for it. Later he tried it again with 150 euros.
Of course he couldn't sell it.

Make him a offer with lets say 30 euros. Let him have a success feeling by pushing the price up to lets say 40 Euros and it should be yours.

If you need support for the transaction (german - english problems and stuff) tell it!
But I will be on holliday for one week.
So I could only help you next week again.

Couldn't find it in the ebay section.

And as I deleted it in "my ebay" I can't find it anymore.

Is there any chance to get to older deleted threads in the sticky section?

It must be upped by me and should have been in August/September I think.

Checked Ebay, no luck there was a Noleen there that was 8.8" long. My bike guy measured mine as being 290mm which is over 11.5" I could not find the smart shock you spoke of. Again I will keep my eyes open. Thanks much and have a great holiday.

That may be the same shock that is on the US ebay right now but I think it is too short.  My Germen is bad so I could not get the dimensions off of it... Thanks for the post.

Ok. Here a short translation:

Bikeshock
NOLEEN NR Mountainbikeshocks
Made in USA

For sale is this shock from noleen
length is 25cm (I don't know if it is the total length or the i2i) which is about 10 inches. it is adjustable by +/- 0.8 inch
color is silver/dark grey
springrate: NBI 450
ball bearing on the lower end

and this is still too short?

I will take the measurement to the bike guy and see what he says.

So my mechanic guy called Noleen today. They said they would try to rebuild the shock but it will cost about $130 ouch but ok.  I also found a company that will make a shock to fit.  It is sales@risseracing.com the guy just needed a few measures to make sure the shock would fit right. They want $298 + shipping so if push comes to shove and the rebuild or ebay find won't fit then there is an answer.  Thanks so much for your help everyone.  After I get this shock fixed I will probably be looking to sell my bike so I can get a commuter.  This bike is hard to ride to work. But great if you need to jump curbs or small dogs. Even better on the trail. I will tell you how this comes out. Keep you posted.
