Title: Look Fournales fork and Proflex 856
Post by: p856shawn on September 09, 2006, 03:32:24 am
I just bought a new Fournales fork.
My bike is a 865 (medium). According to the spec's for the fork I can't have a toatal head tube and headset stack height greater than 137 mm. The bike has a 120mm head tube leaving me with 17mm to spare.
The head tube is approximately 34.16 mm in diameter.
Has anyone got a clue where I can fint a headset that will fit this frame that will have a stack height of 17mm or less? My impression is that many of the headsets available with a low stack height will not fit into this frame.

Worst case scenario is to have a new headtube machined for the fork but if a proper height headset is available that'll fit the frame that would be a least expensive solution.

i would try installing it to see how it all fits.I am not sure if the fournales have a critical measurement like our crosslinks(would think they do) but you may find if you assemble your headet withut any spacers it will all go together fine.Make sure you have enough clamping lenth for the stem

Definately need to try the install 1st, but I honestly don't believe it'll be low enough. The fork is very similar in the critical measurement area. If it's not spaced properly it will not clamp squarely with the head tube. The spacing is 137mm total.

Does anyone have a measurement of the crosslink or vector II requirement so I can compare them?

if memory serves me correctly the givin cm was about 160 or so.but there were a few spacers on top of the headset and under the ULM so the actual headset stck height would have been very similar to what you need for the Fournales.Proflexes had a prety low satck height for that very reason(ie to fit on a linkage fork)
