Post by: SLIM on August 15, 2006, 11:47:08 pm
anyone know the original size of the elastomer used on these forks

http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3317

they are the girvin vector with the single elastomer

only this one has collapsed and i cant find any reference to the original size

contact tom at Iron Horse link above in the stickies. You will have to buy two elastomers(sorry Callum) and the y should be seperated with a big washer(it was a plastic one originally)

 thanks kiwi

but i already got a strip of elastomer and i need to cut some for it , but the original has colapsed and is totally useless as a guide to measure the new one

thats why i was hoping someone new the size of one as new so i can cut it correctly

my spare ones have 45mm, 40mm and 28mm length.

But I think you can easily meassure the correct length for your bike.
build your bike up without the old elastos and meassure the gap which is where the elastos should normally be.
Add additional 5mm and this is a pretty good length for your bike.
So it's got a little preload on the elastos and it will therefor not clatter.
