Title: Girvin GDT forks
Post by: discostu on July 15, 2006, 07:17:27 am
I've got a beast with gdt forks, is it possible to fit normal shocked forks to this frame and to away with the gdt bits.

Cheers

Sure thing.

I think you may have a 1 inch steerer, but many manufactures still produce ones with 1 inch steerer.

You may be able to find one used but in good working order.

Though you have a 1" steerer I'm sure your bike comes
with a 1 1/8" headset as Girvin usually added an adaptor collar from 1" uptp 1 1/8",
fitting a normal type of fork should be very straight forward only requiring a 1 1/8" stem for the new forks, thats if you wish to go for a 1 1/8" steerer other than a 1" steerer.

so both the 1 inch and the 1 1/8 steerers will fit then??

Hmmm,

Sounds like a winner. But I would pull the upper link and look for a spacer. I may have the same situation on my vector.

Yep Terry your vector should also have a 1 1/8" adaptor collor (the top one is a top hat shape, split collor type) the bottom one is a split sleeve type, just gave some away a little while back.
