I sold my 856 and took off the Statos Helix Expert rear shock before letting it go. It's almost new with 5 rides on it. I want to sell it but don't know what it worth. It's a coil/air/oil with rebound adjustment. It uses the cone shaped bottom for the strut attachment. Cost $275 new. I'm in the USA. How much should I ask for it?

Well considering that it is used, and a Risse Genesis Air shock can be had for about $200, I would think that about 50% of new price would be right.
But if it is the long travel shock that gives about 5 inches of travel to the rear, and is no longer produced, it would be more valuable.
What is the stroke and i2i of your Helix?

Hello:
Do you still have the shock available?
Have you decided how much will you sell it?
What is the i2i lenght?
I´ve heard good reviews of that shock.

This shock does not have a I2I it has an I2cone since the bottom uses cone shape on the strut. It should fit 856 and 857 type frames.
I measured the I2bottom of cone, which is 210mm, I2top of strut is about 200mm, since the cone goes down into the strut about 10mm.

That is a very nice shock you have there. Factory service is still available too. I have ridden an evo(Mechanic395's in fact) with a stratos and is very plush.
I remember from somewhere that it has 2.25 inches strokel giving a solid 5 inches rear wheel travel.

You're right about the plushness and travel of this shock. I put the ODS unit back on my 856 after removing the stratos and wow what a difference. I though something was wrong with the ODS unit, maybe low on oil? I took the ODS apart, changed the oil with fresh 15wt, put it back together. It was the same, it was no where near the quality of ride as the Stratos. The ODS with coil spring felt like it had very little travel and the ride quality was not very good at all when compared to the Stratos. The ODS is in perfect condition, it's just not in the same class as the Stratos, and I can see why after opening it up the ODS, there is just a simple piston with a slot in it, very basic shock. Just for grins, I put the Stratos back on, yep the stratos was night and day difference in travel and ride quaility. I thought the guy that was buying my bike may not even buy it with the ODS unit, but thankfully he did buy the bike.
I'm going to put the Stratos on Ebay and hope to get $150USD or more. I'll include the Statos air pump and original owners manual as well.

IM/e-mail sent on shock. Very interested. Will this Stratos Helix Expert fit a 1996 Beast GDT with the cone shapped insert that sits into the rear strut? This may be a good option to replace the GDT I have on the back. What is the model number? Where can you get support, such as rebuilds, for these?

Payment sent for Stratos Helix Expert shock, pump and associated items/parts!

I just wanted to put in a good word for glader60 in case others want to do business with him in the future. He was great to work with. He answered all my questions, shipped fast and the product was as described. I was out of town for a while so it took some time to post back. I have not got to mount it up yet but it holds air and seems to be in excellent condition. I think I will get a chance to ride it this week!
