Title: i2i measurement? how far can I go?
Post by: JXC on May 13, 2006, 10:41:44 pm
I have a 857 and am looking at a new rear shock (well secondhand) with the addition of an adaptor.
Anyway how long can I go (eye to eye) before things get messed up?

Would a 220mm eye to eye be ok?

What do you guys think of the 857 design? will it suit epic-long distance riding?

Have to modify this one cause the bloody computer wont let me use the reply link!

Isnt the standard measurement 210mm ? So why go shorter?

Terrain will be rocky, mountain type stuff, bit of snow.
In New Zealand.

Cheers.

I think you should be looking at an

i2i of 165mm which is a pretty standard length
and easy to obtain,
220mm IMHO is way to long,
you could go a little longer than 165mm and just
adjust the adaptor length to suit,

what sort of epic-long distant rides are you looking
to do  ??? what sort of terrain  ???

Simon.
