Title: Big difference b/w 10W and 15W oil?
Post by: LooseNut on April 26, 2006, 05:22:38 am
OK, everyone recommends using lighter weight oil for the front ODS shock.  Little dillemma, I can get 10W from a motorcycle shop but I would have to drive there during lunch hour.  Or I can get 15W from a different shop and I can drive there after work.

I'd rather drive after work, 15 W satisfactory?

And I will be using the RDS front spring with 190 in/lb rate.  I weigh 175 lbs dry.

15wt will be fine,
standard is 30wt anyway,
best not to take to large a change to start with anyway so 15wt is probably a better bet to start with.

I weigth 13st (80kg) and have 10wt with a 190 spring and that 'feels' medium, i.e. not too hard not too soft.

I would go for the 15wt and get good quality motorbike fork oil.  The 10wt will be just a bit springy - especially in hot climates.  The standard 30wt is over damped but will be OK for most people.
