Title: Crosslink mounting advice
Post by: whisperdance on March 11, 2006, 01:01:34 am
Hi everybody!

I have a crosslink carbon that came of an oz and I want to put it on a x57 frame. I read in the manual that the critical measurement was 163mm for standard forks, but for the k2 2000 and 3000 was 153mm and that they "use forks with slightly different dimensions". I believe these k2 had the same frame as the x57.
What critical measurement should I use? Is the fork of k2 2000 and 3000 different? I noticed that the upper link mount is longer on some pictures, but that can be the difference between the large and the standard one.

Any help would be great.

Regards, Ricardo.

It would work on your world cup frame....as long as it is not "Way Big"

If the fork came off an Oz then it's cm is 163.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.....

I am not going to correct you .The 98 strut bikes used 97 girvin crosslinks badged as NoleenThe 98 and later years crosslinks had changes to allow the use of the smartshock hence the different CM
Got those shocks back yet????If it is a way big or long you will need a lot of spacers is all

According to this:

http://idriders.com/proflex/files/crosslinkinstall.2.jpeg

I have the aftermarket ULM, so the distance would be 153mm for a 120mm headtube (which is the x57 large size frame headtube lenght).
Where this document came from?

I really am confused!!!!

....try at 153 if you are sure you have the aftermarket ULM clamp.

u won't break anything. if it's (CM) short it will look a wee bit odd....if that makes any sense...it will seem look "right" at one cm or the other.

Whats the problem? My posting refers to OE crosslinks,so if yours is a After market use 163.Is it branded a noleen or a girvin?

It is branded Noleen.
Both of them!

The ULM look like the OE.
I had a 757 Way Big that had the longer ULM.

Just want to get it right...

But with this:

http://idriders.com/proflex/files/crosslinkinstall.2.jpeg

it should be 153mm, but the manual says the k2 uses with OE, 163mm...

Still confused....

Please check the differences between the ULM's:

http://i2.ebayimg.com/05/i/06/5b/2e/d8_1_b.JPG

One is a girvin and the other a noleen...

But the ULM is different and alike o the ones in the mounting instructions.
