I have a 5500 Carbon. When I recently removed and replaced my XTR front derailleur I noticed that the post that I attach it to has become a little loose and it wiggles a little. I would like to fix this. I would think that it might be adversely affecting my shifts.
it is the small round black post immediately above the bottom bracket housing. it is a separate piece that is not made of carbon fiber.
I could either slather some epoxy where it meets ups with the frame, or, I was wondering if it would be safe to pry it off and remove and and put some epoxy putty underneath it.
what is under that post? can I pry it off?
if you have some advice or experience. please email me at

I am a long time user of this forum but my IP address was banned over 6 months ago. I never did anything to derserve this. I contacted the webmaster. at first he said I must have been mistakenly flagged as having the IP address of spammer. I am not. He said he would help but he never did and quit replying to my emails.
I miss you guys. I wish I could come on here again from my computer. I am at the library now. maybe some of you remember me. I have a yellow 5000, and recently last spring built up a 5500. If you remmeber me, please advise me how I can get the webmaster to take my IP address off of the banned list that prevents me from even bringing up the IDRIDERS.com website. I can't even read the posts, much less log in.
thanks.

Hey there Chainsaw, Take a look at this file if you can. It shows the 3 sections bonded together, and the post bonded over as a cap.

As far as your logging in, it was successful at the library, so it must be your computer. Do you have your cookies enabled. I have found that with some sited you must have them enabled in order for your request to clear the site firewall.

thanks Simon and Terry for helping me. I fixed it. Its good as new now.
I wouldn't have had had the confidence to pry that loose part of the frame off, without first consulting with the Proflex carbon knowledge base here first.
I am back at the library.
its not cookies. its not my computer. none of the 3 computers at home on my LAN can bring up IPRIDERS.com at all. My IP address is banned. If you reply, I can not read it. The webmaster has been notified of my predicament. I hope he helps me out.
