Title: Creative uses of old Girvin forks
Post by: Thunderchild on December 25, 2005, 03:53:25 pm
I have an old Girvin fork off of my 855 and was thinking of turning it into a wall mounted bike rack.  Something of use and distinction of course.  Anyone else ever create anything creative with an old Girvin?

I used the lower links from a Girvin fork as the base linkage for my faux bar conversion,
in the end I had to make my own as the girvin ones where to short,
it was the inspiration though  :P
anyway if anyone does come up with a creative use for them then I have loads of parts I'm willing to give away.

I was thinking of creating some mobile art to hang from the rafters of my shop.

One word: slingshot

I've also seen old forks used as toilet-paper roll holders.

I turned one into a lamp. I used a traps brand fork mount carrier. I bolted it to a large flat rock. Clamped the fork in it, and used a lamp kit from the local hardware store. It turned out pretty neat. I bolted a picture frame to the brake bosses. For a 5x7 of my daughter and I riding our bikes. I ran all the wiring up the steerer tube. If anyone wants to get rid of any let me know. I could use a couple more lamps.
