Jinder - I'll be yo Daddy! That's a fine ride.
I should know better... but is a beast an 856 from 1998 or something?
Sure wish I could get my hands on some of those Magura levers to retrofit to my Formula calipers...
Shuh-weet [smiley=nod.gif]
Cheers

Thanks Guys!!
Yes, I believe this beast is from 1996...I should have it in 2 weeks. My dad will love this bike...he is a big Proflex fan indeed. At the age of 56 he will be the coolest "dad" on the trails lol

The Beast with the "856" type frame was sold in '97.
It was known as the Beast GDT (Girvin Damping technology). Which is what yours looks like it's got on the back.
This shock was designed by Girvin engineers to be used on most of their '97 lineup, but with the late season purchase of Noleen, was spec'd on only a few bicycles and was not sold as an aftermarket item.
A bit better than ODS , but not as good as a Noleen (no external adjustment, but does have a floating piston)
Original spec on the Beast GDT was silver (natural) Vectors AL's on the front, LX mainly with XT 8 Speed Rear and Gripshift 600, Magura Hydraulic brakes and Amber WTB Primal Raptor's ....COOL !!!
I've got a BEAST for sale in the UK, £300. Message me for the spec if you're interested

That's the Kiddy!

yeah - that's the 96 beast (sold from 1996 to 1998) not to be confused with the 97 beast which had the pivot point in the same place as the 857, i.e. before the BB.
great bikes. yours has had it's shock upgraded too. magura's have been upgraded from the original red HS-33's.
