I have a k2 4000 and want to to lube the main pivot. I've read OP's 5 minute jiffy lube in the tech archive. Does this apply to the 4000? Also if I read the instructions correctly then at some point both pinch bolts are loosened. Wouldn't this mean the swingarm could be moved off the main pivot which OP recommends against? Wouldn't it be better to loosen only one pinch bolt at a time?
Thanx

the pinch bolts only put pressure on the axle/cups that have been locked in place by the main crossbolt.
having one or the other of the axle/cups in place, keeps the swingarm from moving off the pivot, they insert into the face plate on the frame thru the swingarm -
i only move one cup at a time (usually do the left side first) and yes, you can loosen both pinch bolts - you'll have to if you want to retighten them properly.

on those bikes it's ten times (or more) easier to take the swingarm off than put it back on....unless you use one of Simon's little spreader gadgets, than it's a piece of cake.
this works for carbon arms, don't know about any others though
there's a pic of it on my gallery courtesy of Simon.
