Congrats, Terry

Who is that guy sitting behind you?
-
You're the guy with the hat, right?
Seriously, wooden arrows? OP you truly are old school. Huwah!
(I just put the $$ from my recent last bike sale into a shotgun project. Pictures in 2 months...)
-
Man, you ARE old!
as stated above, who is the guy behind you?

Great Handlebars, but the stand over height looks a little low.............? ;D
-
nice trophy nick....mtb hunting?and whereabouts,....

Oh, NOW I get it. You were going to put a wooden arrow into my spokes, not a stick. [smiley=laughing.gif] You sneaky guy you.
Very nice equipment, OP. Very nice catch, too. You must be proud. Mounting over the mantle?

ProFlex bikes & Black Widow bows. You're my kind of guy. Well close at least. With me it's K2 Razorback Team & Howard Hill bows.
Congrats!

Mounting over the mantle?
he will have to move the 5500 if he does that

YOU MEAN IT'S DEAD ?? ?? ?? !!!!
I though it was just very tame........

frank - the comment was only that it can be done, not directed at you personally, sorry.
yes, i am the one in the back, not the front.
i am going to bring my mountain bike on a fall hunt to get into 'non motorized' areas. they do that to keep game in the area, not disrupt daily travel patterns of elk and such and to keep things quiet. some areas are a few miles in and an mtb with a takedown bow is a distinct advantage - a gps is good to mark the spot where you left your bike (chained to a tree)
this bad boy (barbados sheep) was in the tehachapi mountains on a weekend hunt. named him 'javier' before he ended up in my freezer and taxidermist.
-
OP, I seem to remember;
Was it you and/or Matno that were talkin' about hunting with your ride and Bob trailer?
So, it might not be that far off topic ?
-
Yes, I remember that conversation a couple of years back. I'm still hoping to try it, but I haven't had a single chance to hunt since I started med school 4 years ago. The near future (i.e. next 5 or 6 years) doesn't look particularly promising either... :(
I will do it someday though (hunt via mountain bike). It's just too good a combination to pass up!

OP - no sweat, my good man. I'd like to think it's all in good clean fun, yes?
Kiwi - BUWHAHAHAHAAAAA! So what you're saying is that OP will simply get another fireplace, eh?! HAHAHA!!! That was great. Thanks, I needed that! [smiley=laughing.gif]
Sorry, OP, but that was a priceless comeback that Kiwi had.
BBQ at OP's? :-[

matno et al -
i should imagine, and in thinking things though, to hunt via MTB, certain components would have to be highly specialized. For instance,
1. The bike, it would have to generally be in reasonable condition yet a near throw away as it would have to be ridden into areas unknown and chained/locked to a tree. It would be left for long periods of time and you would wouldn't be sure if it would be there when you eventually got back. Same with a helmet.
So, reasonable yet throwaway? - I'd have to say any of the Intense, Iron Horse or Santa Cruz models -
definitely not my Pro Flex.
2. The weapon, gun or takedown bow. If a takedown and you see animals, they don't wait around till you put things together so you'd have to ride in with it in one piece - same as a rifle. So that leads to the next important piece of equipment.
3. The pack, it would have to be a water day pack with bow/gun carrying capacity on the back. There's quite a few models on the market that fit that bill, Catquiver I-VI models, Badlands packs etc.
4. Shoes, mtb able and good for hiking. Unless you're using flat pedals (which probably wouldn't be a bad idea)
A few thoughts - oh, Frank, I'll throw another couple ribs on the Barby for you.

Thanks OP! [smiley=beer.gif] <~ i'll bring the beer! Good, strong Canadian stuff.
Hey, how about a front-mount rack (for the bike, guys, the BIKE!). You know, kinda like a basket-type thing? You could have the arrow set-up on your bow, ready to go. If you see anything then all you have to do is grab the bow, aim, pull and fire.
I know, I know, still takes time to do "all of these things", but short of mounting a loaded cross-bow on the handlebars... :o
-
mounting a crossbow on the handlebars, now that would be cool.
come to think of it, what about mounting a gun on the handlebars, link it to a helmet-mounted sight. now that would be really cool! oh wait, I guess the military has already done that on choppers. Simon, how about coming up with a bike version of the helicopter system?
[smiley=groucho.gif]

frank, i don't think you realize that paul was quite serious -
i only take it down to knock the dust off the red velvet background and the walnut framing, readjust to track lighting that accents the deep luster in the finish and change the barry manilow music.
who needs a tv? (if i'm just gonna sit and stare, why not at something worth while?)
OP
-
Red velvet? BUWHAHAHAHAA! HAHAHA. HHAhaha. Hehhee... [smiley=blankstare.gif] Why do I suddenly get the feeling that YOU aren't joking? :o
Dennis - gee, I was only joking man. You guys are starting to scare me. I better not tick anyone off. I can imagine a fleet of cross-bow toting, grenade-launching, radar-evading carbon bikers coming after me.
I think i'm gonna skip the glass of milk before bed tonight. :-[

How ironic,
I work on and repair military vehicles,
I may have to pass this idea on to the powers that be,
can't pass much on in return, signed official secrets act :-X,
they find out and I might suddenly disappear [smiley=worry.gif]
