Now here's one I'll bet you hadn't heard before...
I actually twisted my left fork leg or bent the front mounting tabs.
At the bottom of a twisty decent on Friday I hit some sand, handlebar'ed a tree and scattered my carcass off in the woods. When it was all over, my front brake was roughly 0.175" to the left from before. Sqeaked like a cave full of bats all the way back to the car.
Good news: The JB Weld didn't break and the brakes can be shimmed to fit.
Bad news: Noise & friction make Will an unhappy rider.
Live & learn!

Hi Will,
glad you only twisted the xlinks. Least the JBweld held up - aren't you a little worried if the leg rather than the tabs was twisted, that it has weakened the leg? [smiley=diaper.gif]
cheers, [smiley=beer.gif]

:ojust a reminder. bob girvin felt that discs on the aluminum forks were not advisible. he was fine with them on carbon legs.

if a crosslink disc mount is properly centered on the leg, the pressure from the calipers is directed into the center of the leg, there should be no twist or torque on the leg. all pressure from the braking forces is directed forward and not at an angle.
sounds perhaps like the misalignment came from crash and it's effect on the fork. crashes aren't good for any fork as they are only designed to absorb energy from certain directions.

Will,
Ouch! glad that it wasn't any worse.
