Title: Need recommendation for 856 front and rear shocks?
Post by: LocoMotoMarc on April 02, 2003, 05:23:01 am
Asking for an forum impaired sibling:

He has an 856 that has MCUs that aren't working or are frozen. He needs a new rear shock and a new front fork.

Are there any replacment MCUs available?

What are some reasonable cheap replacements for the rear shock?

What front fork can be used in place of the stock 856 fork that came on the bike?

Thanks,

mcu's are still available from k2. any bike shop can order them for him. as far as rear shocks, i think only a risse or a stratos will fit the strut-type frame. or a noleen nr-2. on the front, if he likes the girvin style fork[no disks] he can get a noleen crosslink pretty cheaply. no more than a 4" travel fork on that frame is recommended.

indeed, then 856 will work with coil spring upgrade kits from mountainspeed - email me for more details.  The springs come with replacement collars and really improve the 856 ODS shock... (even compared to new MCUs)
