Title: Top or Bottom Pull Derailleur?

Hey Guys!

Just wondering what your preferences are for front derailleurs…Top or Bottom pull?

Frame design normally dictates as to which front mech pull you have to use,personally never had trouble with either.

I dislike 'em both! I actually took it off and make do with 34 teeth up front & 11-28 out back.
In fact, I like it so much I'm planning to go single speed on the 856... [smiley=nod.gif]

I've mucked up a few bottom pullers by high centering on the bottom bracket. The cable pass throughs under the BB also tend to get full of grit.

My Kona's a top puller and seems to shift smoother than the bottom routed cables. But then there's all that cable on the top tube...

But, like Simon said, we're at the mercy of the frame designer and the braze-ons.

The bottom pulls have always worked for me. I also haven't any choice with a 4500 carbon.
I was wondering does Shimano have an e-type front derailleur that is top pull. It seem all of the e-types are bottom pull.
I have a bike with a 35.9mm derailleur clamp area but could only find derailleurs that clamp up to 34.9mm.
Does anyone know if the 34.9mm clamp would fit a 35.9mm tube.
