Title: I again Forks

Hi Everyone

Since my crown on my z1 cracked, I have been looking for another 5 inch fork for my Proflex 4000.  



Ended up with two forks the Manitou Minute or the Sherman firefly

The axles to crown length are preaty close



Manitou Minute -------505mm (19.9"), lighter

My old z1 was ---------510.5mm (20”) newer z1 are 518mm

Sherman Firefly--------512mm (20.2"), stiffer, 20mm



I ride everything I can.



Any inputs would be helpful

Alex,

you should be able to get a new crown and or craown/steerer/stanchion assembly for your Narzocchis if you want to keep running them?

Where are you based - UK or elsewhere?

What shock are you running on the rear? That would make a big difference in my decision making.

However, personally, I think I'd go with the Minute because it's lighter. A heavy front end never makes life easier (unless you're talking a huge difference in travel length). Plus, the SPV is really nice. Kind of like a sports car - not necessarily as comfortable or plush, but sticks to the ground like you wouldn't believe - at least on the rear shocks I've tried it did.

I have the original nr4 with an aluminum swing arm, thinking of up grading it.

You cracked a z1!
they look so beefy. I am wondering how you broke it. I am concerned because I am shopping for a z150 FR ETA and wouldn't want the same to happen when I am going to try something dangerouse on my bike. Should I be concerned alex?
I herd some good things about the manitou single crown forks. People say they are very stiff. I would also sugest the Minute I've seen them on sale at MTBR.com. If you want something with more sbstance, go with the NIXON Fire fly plus with an axle to crown length of 20.9".

Its one of the older z1 drop off’s with a bolt on crown; I don't know how I cracked it.  I just noticed after a ride.
I think the new z1’s should be fine

I got a wheel set with a 20mm hub, so that narrows my chooses

still have to take it off road  :)

Tell us how you like it. How does a Featherlite 6 inch freeride fork feel.

HI

Its 5 inches of smooth travel

So far I like the fork; still needs to break in. and find out my air sittings.

Still getting used too, the disk brake in the front.  One of my friends had a great experience with them; over the handlebars.
