Title: Crosslink fork and shock identification.

Hi all,
      care to take a guess at what model and year these forks and shock are?  [smiley=nod.gif]

no way of telling fomr that picture. when you get the fork go the the k2 tech library and check out the PDF files for the circa 97 and 99 crosslinks, you might find some info from the exploded diagrams and what not.

the shock could be anything from a 97 version or a lter one. k2/Noleen had slightly different versions of nr2's.

be sure to pull the shock and see if it has a nitrogen charge (check the rebound adjuster, ful on and full off and there should be a marked difference in rebound of the shaft.

IMHO
I reckon they're either an After Market pair of '97 Crosslinks or came off of a 2000 or 3000.
The reason is because the ULM looks longer than a standard pair fitted to other Pro-Flex's in the factory.
If so, then the "critical measurment" will be 10mm higher (163mm)  than standard (153mm).
Assuming they're "standard AM's" and not "Long AM's" then they'll fit headtubes from 90-130mm. (Longs = 131mm to 160mm)

They did this to make the AM forks more flexible (not bendy!) in being able to be fitted to other makes of bikes with longer headtubes.

Interestingly, thay also appear to have the "Upper Pivot Bumpers" which I think were only used on 2000's and 3000's but may have also been fitted to AM's.

Bottom line is, if they are After Markets then your spacer stack height may have to increase by 10mm

I'm sure you'll come up with something creative to use them for! <GRIN>

Very Shiny!!!
Wish I could find a shiny pair like that to match the world cup 955 instead of the dark anodized pair I have!  
Has anyone ever tried to remove the anodized coating on crosslinks to give them a brushed Aluminium finish?  Or am I just being silly :P

you are spot on Colin,  8)  those "bumpers" were on, or either supposed to be on the older model 857/X-links and maybe others. I remember the old tech forum when Pro~Flex was still in Rhode Island(?)...people were always asking for bumpers, decals, manuals...always thought they were goofy looking...good eyes to spot them! ;D

          cheers. Have downloaded the pdfs so will have a look. I wasn't aware AM x-link forks were available - kinda thought they just came with each model of Proflex.

definetly a pair of crosslinks with polished legs,i think colin has nailed it,not sure how you identify for sure,perhaps the legs are the same as 98 noleen x links which also has a 163 cm,as opposed th e 97 girvins x link which were 153
