a mate of mine recently fitted some new wheels the rims on these wheels are sunn singletrack and are quite wide and deep he has had about 4 punchers in the space of three weeks ( snake bite's) he has the same tyres as me fitted at the same time, is this just bad luck or has anybody else had this problem
cheers

a thing i'd check is the rim tape, sometimes that can rip a tube, it has happened to me. stuff i use is cloth velo tape.
also tubes can be iffy if they are on the light weight (thin) side of things and there is something not just right with the rim.

Snake bites can be avoided by riding with more pressure in the tyres. Does your friend ride with less then you?
And do you both ride the same tracks?

I have never used singletrack rims but have had some problems with my rhynolites. The last set of tires I put on them are hell to put on due to the high sidewall and design of tire, I pinched a few tubes while putting them on but it doesn't always become apparent until well into a ride. Now I'm more careful!
