Title: Holy Smokes Dudes.......
Post by: Irby on July 19, 2004, 11:39:11 am
Guess what.....? I just recieved an email from K2 bike customer service. They are now selling consumable parts (elastomers, pivot kits, hangers and so on) DIRECTLY!!!!!!  I was elated!!!! I called 18004473824
and ordered an EVO pivot kit (RK012) for $19.99 plus s/h. The total was $24.50 and it will go out tomorrow. So K2 boys and girls, you can now get your parts directly from K2. I wish that I could rave about my local bike shops, but they have really let me down on this issue. Hope this message is some help for some of you. Happy riding. Dan.

I have been buying direct from them for a couple of months, I didn't realise it is a new development. I have been very impressed with K2's customer service and warranty policies over the last 2 years.

Man-o-man, I used to really wonder about the K2 business model. They had stocks of replacement parts sitting on shelves, but the LBS folks could not seem to get them in a timely fashion if at all. Many people were puzzled by this. Of course, there were many people reporting no problems with the LBS, including me. But that changed here in Syracuse. I suspect that online sales of bikes and components have really put a dent in the LBS revenues. I still try to buy at the LBS, but since I do all of my own repairs and adjustments, I'm becoming less inclined to remain a regular customer.  I don't think K2 (or any bike maker) would profit much from a guy like me. I have a 1999 EVO that has been through many chains, tires, casettes, several wheelsets and three forks, but I am still riding and loving that frame. By the way, my noleen NR-2 is still working very well.

Thanks Dan,

k2 should have done this eons ago.

I'm sure many good frames hit the dumpster and riders lost their lust for k2 because of difficulty in getting replacement parts. Or at least the value of a used k2 was not as high as it should be because of hard to get specialty maintenance parts. I have been fortunate to have a great LBS who was able to get things from k2 for me time and time again.
