I just stumbled across this handy little website that allows you to add your location to a map of fellow Proflexors. I created a link just for us:
http://www.frappr.com/proflexk2riders
You have to register just like any other forum. All it asks is an email address and a zip code. This is not a replacement for this forum, I just liked the map function so that we can see where we all are on one big map! Try it. The map includes the whole world. You may have to zoom out using the scroll bar on the left to see all of it. Also, you can pan across the map just by clicking and dragging it.
This way, if you want to go to visit, say, the Bronx, you can click on the tab nearest your destination and see that it's me! I really like the idea of facilitating more "Proflex meetings." Will and Simon got me fired up. My own experience meeting, riding with, and becoming friends with Thunderchild right here on this forum 5 years ago was awesome (although I moved before he got his Oz and still haven't seen it!)
Dennis, you and I should go for a ride some time, we're really not that far apart! (Plus, I really want to see your carbon beauty!)
-
Cool, I'm there!
Steve
-
im on!
-
I'm there. In this part there is good riding if I travel east. Or opposit to the west in Michigan outside of Detroit.
-
So am I ;)
-
Me too, all 2 of us in the England [smiley=beer.gif]
-
Well how neat! I am on. ;D

colinv I can't find you on there, only me and Jeff in England ???
Simon.
-
i am there too way way way south of you dudes!
-
Very cool, Iam on way up north in the hinterland of Toronto.
Bruce
-
Doh!
I've just shown everyone on the evilnet where to nick a 5500 from!
-
On there now Simon, 2 of us close to each other. [smiley=beer.gif]
-
What is the Queen Elizabeth park like to ride? I need to sort a ride for work.
-
that map is seriously cool, my marker is within 100 yrds of my house!
-
Matno,
that is sooo cool. thanks for setting that up. working with the map and satellite functions I was able to put my marker right on my front door!!
we are close by, and we should get together and ride. we've talked about it before, but let's do it this time.
I am available any spring weekend, and anyday during the summer. (mornings are best)
I also notice Len isn't way far away. I know, New London is a bit of a hike, but not all that bad. maybe the three of us could get together.
I like how a pic of Blue Crush ended up on that site!!

Matno,

Absolutely. This spring is my last chance to have a somewhat flexible schedule. When the weather warms up, we'll be in touch for sure!;D Heck, what am I saying? We don't have to wait - it's been pretty warm already. (Except today). Where do you suggest we go? I've heard of a lot of places, but I've only actually ridden a handful of trails in Westchester. Let's get some ideas going...

[smiley=groucho.gif]
What better way to represent the brand? I hope you don't mind that I used your bike as the "poster child" of the forum... 8)
-
Mat,
Westchester is a bit of a hike, but here on LI there are a few choices.
mere minutes from my house are
a. Nassau-Suffolk Greenbelt (not very technical, two-way trail, runs North and South)
b. Triangle Trail at Stillwell Park in Syosset (about a 5 mile loop, has some real technical sections, could do a combo of this and the Greenbelt)
further out on L.I. (Rocky Point) is the Rocky Point trail . its about a 20 mile loop, one needs DEC permit. I can tell you how to get it, its free!! the only problem is that Rocky Point opens in late spring. I can get date. Rocky Point is, by far, the best trail on LI, and the one I recommend the most.
thanks for using Blue Crush, it makes me feel good.

:o [smiley=redface.gif]man, this map is too cool. i signed up, but had no idea the map was soooo adjustable. i was able to place my marker right on my street location. i looove maps and this one is great. now i can see exactly where kiwi lives in wellington, since i wasn't able to meet him at his home.
-
Doh!
I've just shown everyone on the evilnet where to nick a 5500 from!
Seriously though Guys, we are telling the whole world where some seriously nice bikes live............
I've put my marker on my town name not exactly my street.
If any of you guys ever want to meet up, I'll be more than happy to give exact directions!
A site I used to be a member of, The GT4OC (Celica GT4 Owners club) , used to have a similar facility on their website, built in, and I think could only be accessed by logged in members.

Cool welcome page!!!!

-
I have adjusted my MArker, there was already a "link" for Wellington,Wellington(sic) NZ.I think i am somewhere close now....cant go anycloser than a pretty blurry pic.Cant really see any streets, but can see the Stadium.I could probably move the marker to where we had a beer Dan,or where you stayed.
-
8) i'm there, now :P
[smiley=beer.gif]
be sure to zoom out to see our other buddies across the pond and furthur [smiley=laughing.gif]
-
I'm on it now. Nobody lives near me though... [smiley=doh.gif]
-
thats ok cos no one lives near me either, welcome aboard the map! i think all us uk riders should get together at some point and have a bit of a ride maybe raise some money for a charidee put on a concours show!! [smiley=laughing.gif] that kind of thing :) hows about it ?
-
A good place to meet would be in mid November where one weekend every year they hold the Real Ale Wobble in Llanwrtyd Wells, Wales. It's a non-competitive 'race' in the welsh forests where every so often en route there's a pitstop with Real Ale in barrels to help you on your way! Usually about 300 mountain bikers turn up. Then in the evenings you sup beer to live music etc in this charming small town in the middle of bumblef*ck.
It's about £20 to enter and you can camp in the playing fields. Here's a link: http://llanwrtyd-wells.powys.org.uk/event8thalewobble.htm or http://www.virtualbike.co.uk/displayarticle7.html . For that matter just type Real Ale Wobble into google or your search engine of choice. I've been going with my mates since 1997. It's great craic.

Haven't seen any new additions to the map lately, so I thought I'd bump it up to the top again. Seems like there have been quite a few new posters on the forum lately...

Hi Guys,
I ride a 1993 753 in more or less original conditions. I'm the first & only owner of it & took it with me to many places in Europe over this 20 years.
I live in Remscheid in Germany and will add a 350W Cyclone drive to it next year
:-)
greets
Roger

wow, I thought I'd already added mine here...
Syracuse, NY
1994 854 custom built, original owner and still ridden daily...

757 from new (1997). South-East UK. 47y.o. and still going strong.
-
1997 857, bought from first owner in '98. He built it to race (downhill) and upgraded to NR-4 on the back, Bomber Z-1's on the front, Race Face all over, even different tires for front and back. 15 years later, I've just started riding it and so far, loving it! Still have my original bike - 1988 Rocky Mountain Hammer in the red/yellow racing colours of the day. No plans to give up either at this time!
I'm late 40's in Kamloops BC Canada (also known as Mountain Bike Heaven)
-
Peoria, AZ (basically, Phoenix)
Proflex 5500 with bomber fork
Proflex 856 with Girvin carbon crosslinks
Proflex 4000 Way big with Noleen crosslinks in very rough condition
Proflex 856 frame and Girvin AL crosslink fork
Proflex 4000 frame only
Trek Y-foil 77
I seem to have a problem. When I come across one, it's hard not to buy it.

I have been in the group three and a half years now. I thought I had posted my local? Anyway, I live here in the beautiful San Joaquin Valley of sunny California
-
Just found this map site on another forum. https://www.zeemaps.com/ (https://www.zeemaps.com/)
If someone a bit more computer talented than me wants to get it started that would be great.
-
OK, if I did this right we may have a new locater map. You will need to register to be able to mark your spot.
https://www.zeemaps.com/map?group=943367&location=Atlanta%2C%20GA (https://www.zeemaps.com/map?group=943367&location=Atlanta%2C%20GA)
Someone else give it a try to see if it works for you.
Thanks, Willie_B
-
Thanks Willie B it worked for me.
-
I just added my UK location as a "simple" marker and didn't need to register.
Colin S.
-
That was simple
-
I dropped my pin in there too.
It'll be great to see where everyone is.
I'll try for some photos this weekend too.
-
hello! I'm in South America, Brazil, state of São Paulo, a city of Limeira. I'm a bit far ...

The link no longer works, for me at least. Is it still operating for you guys? If not, we should update and start it going again, I would love to find some Proflex riders around me here in sunny San Diego!
-
I just clicked on the link about 9 messages back to the zeemaps site and it seemed to work. The link way back at the begining is dead.

I just registered and added my new location. I didn't realized the old map was"404"

If you go back to page 6, 3 messages down from the top you will see a link to zeemaps. You can leave a marker there for your location.
-
I was also able to place a marker without logging in. :)
