Title: Milestone
Post by: Colin on October 16, 2013, 02:36:06 am
Hi All,
I've just recently passed the milestone of my 50th Birthday!
Am I too old to be having adventures on my pushbike anymore? <Rhetorical Question>

Here's the cake my lovely (addiction understanding) wife had made for me, it's quite a good likeness of me (maybe a bit too much hair) and an even better one of the XP-X! (although the blue is a bit off and those Spinergy's will kill me! <GRIN>)

and no, before you ask, that foaming thing between my legs is a pint of Beer!

Col.

Happy birthday.   Your bike may be older than some people you ride with.

I hit 48 back on Monday, so I can sort of relate.  Of course 50 is MUCH older!  ;D

Hope you had a good one and to answer your question about whether you're too old to have adventures on your bike... evidently not!  And if you keep drinking beer when out on the bike, you might have some 'adventures' truly worthy of sharing at the pub with friends!  ;)

No bike on my cake, but I did get some new riding gloves...  :)

Happy birthday Col!!
Ha ha that cake is brilliant and the resemblance is definitely all there! Cake, bikes and beer sounds like heaven and a bit of frothing between your legs proves you not too old lol!
Hope you had a great day and if those wheels haven't killed you by now I recon you'll be alright  ;)

I'll be 66 in a week.  Or was that 666?  Probably a closer match to my nature.

Happy Birthday. I'm only 3 years away myself. Most of the guys I used to ride with have long since given it up and settled down for some reason. I still can't get out enough. Just get out and ride.

Are there any mountains in a Kent?
You two could join up for a ride if you're both in Kent. When was the last time anyone saw two Proflexs riding together?
It's shocking to remember but the last time I rode with someone else on a K2/Proflex was in 2002! Me on my 4000 and my mate on his 5000. We had four good years of riding our Flexers together but he then traded his 5000 in for a Santa Cruz Heckler. Funny thing is, he works in the bike industry and says of all the bikes he's owned, which is sooo many, he wishes he had kept his 5000.

Happy 50th Col, love the cake.

54 here & ride the XP-X or Oz most days on the school run with the addition of a Burley trailer.

Just joined a local riding group too on the GoSkyRide website, doing a mix of road & off road riding. Mixed ages, but quite a few in their 50s.

I think we're at the time of life where we either use it or lose it - I'm pleased how my fitness & stamina has improved after a few 40 - 65 mile rides over a few hills.
