Found this in Tulsa!

75 dollars... it needed lots of cleaning up, but the pump is smooth. Needs a new TPC, but otherwise is in excellent condition. Its gonna get some new parts eventually to bring it up to my speed, but I just have to show it off.

yay!

Super nice!!  I love the wood grip.  Chefdave has a Phantom like that ("Nina"), and it is a beauty.  Do us a favor and post some well-lit pictures so we can admire!

Excellent deal, especially with those grips.

Excellent deal, especially with those grips.

I was thinking that too. The grips are probably worth $30, so you got a Phantom for the price of a used Traccer!  Cheesy

The guns TPC is completely stripped of threads, it has a RED mainspring, and a long barrel.

Wonder what happened here?  :Smiley

Its of no matter, I will have replacements shortly!

That's what happens when a person turns the TPC in past 5 - 6 turns clockwise. It comes completely out of the bolt and after you play with it like that for very long it will trash the threads.

A person should never have to turn the TPC more than 5 turns clockwise to get the velocity up to where they need it. Some where around the sixth turn they will be flirting with disaster to the TPC.

I have a bunch of Phantoms around here with stock springs, and 3 turns is all we ever need to get 280 - 290 fps. On rare occasions, when the temperature goes over 95 and your in the sun, the pressure of the CO2 will exceed the ability of the hammer to open the valve. Then a red main and lighter valve spring might be needed. But a person should never turn the TPC past 5 turns. It isn't going to help on those really hot days anyway.

I have a vertical setup with an old Autococker regulator for those times, so I never even have to change out the springs.

It sounds like you have already ordered the TPC. You should also check to see if there was any damage done to the threads inside of the bolt too. If the TPC threads aren't too bad, you can repair them with a set of small files and a dremel, but it's slow work, and probably will never be real smooth again.

TPC on "new" phantom, TPC on "old" phantom.

As you can see, there are no threads whatsoever.  Undecided

Yup, that old ones history! Never seen one that gone. They must have played a long time with it completely out of the bolt.

Now that takes some work to screw stuff up like that!  Shocked  Although given what you paid for it you are still WELL ahead of the game! Wink  Nice pickup.
