I had a phantom years ago, loved it. Got one again this winter, and went to break it out today and wasn't quite shooting like my old one did. My old one I just ran off 3.5oz tank. My new one I am running off a 13ci hpa bottle. I happened to have a palme female stab laying around, so I stuck it on. when I would pump it the valve made a wird pop sound, and I really had to pump it hard inorder for it to shoot. I was thinking it was my pressure as the stabilizer was at 500psi. I fiddled around with the spring and pressure and got it to shoot the field limit, but it still had a "twangy" sound to the shot, nothing like my old phantom (wish I never sold her). What pressures are you guys running through your stabs?

Phantom needs 800+ to function, anything less than that you will run into problems with cocking it.

There is very little reason to run a reg or stabilizer on a phantom.

Stabs require a 200 PSI differential in order to regulate ideally.

That means that on CO2, you would be running, at highest, at roughly 600 PSI.  On HPA, unless you have a true HP reg, you will be regulating down to 400 PSI.

Nelson valvetrains are designed to run off straight CO2, which operates at roughly 800 PSI.  Any less and you are losing efficiency and your valve will start to do strange things.

Unless you are running in extreme conditions, the most I'd suggest would be an anti-siphon on the bottomline, or a regular 3.5 / 4 oz on the vertical ASA

ok. Guess I'll take the stab off and throw her on my cocker. I Use HPA instead of CO2 mainly because of avaiability. I have several scuba tanks and can fill up all day long.
