Bought a PPS Hurricane SN 200 at a garage sale.  PPS puts it at a roughly 1990s marker.  To put it short, it came to me leaking out of every single possible hole, heavily tarnished nickel plating, gunked up internals and an ugly sort of "paint" or some type of superficial varnish that was dinged and scratched.

As it came to me:

Well....let's see...something like 4 years later, a few dollars, a broken wooden spoon, a trip to the hardware store, a set of seals from PPS, parts generously donated by friends, invaluable assistance from Drum, Jimmy, Craig and others, and a few choice words, Hurc #200 is back in fighting form.

If any of you would be interested in seeing the long version of the restoration, I can dig up old pictures and type up a little illustrated "story" for you all from beginning to end.

I'm not one to believe in naming markers, but if there is one marker I own that may even deserve one, this would be it.  Unfortunately, I also believe that a marker cannot be named by its owner, so hopefully it will pick one up worthy of its history somewhere down the road.

Anyways, I digress.

I just want to know how you found a hurc at a garage sale.

Awesome job on the restoration!

Some people just have all the luck.  That looks very nice, well done.  What did you use to get the varnish off?

Thanks guys  Smiley

Varnish was removed using some kind of 3M finish remover, some brillo pads and a paint scraper.  Note to self - paint scraper is BAD TO USE since it has a knack for nicking wood (lol...that was interesting) if you slide it at the wrong angle.  This finish stuff was nasty though, and had to be scraped off.

I remember Dave told me in the chatroom that if I didn't pick up the hurc, he'd get a plane ticket, fly over here and pick it up himself.

The guy holding the garage sale was an old paintball dealer who was selling off his stock from 10 years back.  I think he forgot the value of the marker Smiley

Ya think?!?  That gun is a thing of beauty, and something that old deserved to be revived to fight another day.
