So I haven't played paintball since D-Day 2009 (stock class phantom was a blast).  Poking around on Palmers web site I saw he makes a barrel in 0.68.  Never realy had a complaint about the stock barrel, just have a thing for brass.  I know from experience that Palmers quality is very high, but I wounder if 0.68 will be to small for most paintballs?  Does any one know the current average size of paintballs?  I am concerned about breaks in the barrel.  My other Palmers barrel (unfortunetly not for the phantom) is very gental on paint, compaired with a smart parts tear drop and stock barrel of same ID.  All advice welcome, thanks for your time.

make sure you get Palmer to put in some Wedgits to prevent rollouts or get a set of detent rings from CCI.

So you think roll outs will still be common with a .68 bore on todays average paintball?

sizing can vary from box to box, due the nature gel used to make the shell, moisture and temperature change can have huge effect on the size. just couple thousandth of inch can cause roll out.

I have been hearing alot about decreacing paint sizes.  I'm trying to remember (been a few years) but I think I usualy used freak insert 0.684-0.689 for my WGP Snipers.  I know at times I have had to use larger and smaler inserts.  Is a 0.68 bore going to cause problems for most of todays paint, I'm thinking it might be on the small side but then again I haven't played since 2009.  Measured my stock phantom barrel it looks to be about 0.685, definetly have had plenty of roll outs without the detent rings installed.  May just be better off getting a 0.685 bore and using detents.
