Hey guys, new forum member here.  I've had my phantom for about a year now and have been loving it ever since.  In the never ending quest to improve I went ahead and bought the TechT kit with the barrel adapter and the python inserts, sounded cool and was hoping for some good results.

Since its getting cold I have changed over to a 13cu HPA tank and changed to the blue springs since 270 is the max at our field.  So without the TechT kit (just using the cci detents) I was  shooting 270 +/-  5 fps...which was pretty good.  So after putting in the TechT system my velocity is now at 250..... huh?  Angry  Its supposed to go up right?  I tried 3 different types of balls and 3 different bore sizes...all the same low velocity.  So I took it all apart...put it back to stock thinking my ASA had moved but no....back at 270.  So I put the TechT kit back on and adjusted it to shoot 270.....with no real wow difference. And yes I do own a freak barrel system for another marker so I know how to size the balls.  Am I missing something here.....I mean I have the stock 11 inch barrel so with the adapter for techT its now about 13 inches long. Is that where its all going wrong?  Has anyone else had good results with this kit or did I just waste 125 bucks!

now im no math expert but i see 2 things here

1) your extending the barrel length meaning more it will require a little more air behind the ball to allow the same speed at the end of the balls travel through that barrel

2) you are adding more drag the Detent system holds the ball in place and also provides a good ball to bore seal but its only || <-- that thick  the kit u picked up has adapters that are some ware around an inch and a half to 2 inches long adding ALOT of drag on the ball requiring more "oomf" to get that ball going at the same speed at the end of the balls travel through the barrel

freak kits and other sleeve type systems clam thay provide more consistent shots but the part thay never mention is to do so it will require more air behind the ball

now i may be wrong and if some one can prove it go right ahead but the way i understand it thats what your problem is

So I put about 600 balls it this weekend with the TechT system, using marbs.  Honestly I didn't really see any difference in my accuracy at all, if anything I was using way more air.  Usually get about 220-240 good shots from my tanks, didn't even get 170 out of it using the inserts.  The asa was turned in 5 full rotations from the setup that doesn't use the Techt system.  I put it back to stock form with just the detents when I got home.  I'm putting that techt back on ebay where it came from.....what a waste...for so little return.

Nitro: Your assumptions are spot on correct according to my "in the field" tests.

If anyone else has had good luck with this system please feel free to chime in, otherwise I would skip this expensive upgrade for sure.

Yep that is correct. Your putting more drag by using 2 inserts. I had a few other things I didnt like about the techt kit on my phantom so this was my solution
