I have a couple Phantoms and one of KPCS's Ditto Deuces.

I have been trying to pick up Freak backs for them, but haven't had much luck.  The new Smart Parts doesn't know if they are going be making Phantom threaded ones anymore.

What system do you guys use?  I looked up Hammerhead ones.  Any others out there?

I have a lot of good luck with the Deadly Wind barrel and freak inserts.

I use the J&J Edge kit on mine, but the DW is a great system too.

I'm getting rid of one of my Phantom threaded Freak backs if you want it let me know! I'm on McarterB a lot more though with the same handle. I'd be glad if you took it off my hands! I might even be able to get another for you!

Gat products barrel is great deal. Shoots darts and is quiet. I took the ebay gamble and am very happy!

I got my "stock" barrel drilled for freak inserts when I ordered it from White Wolf.

Still Playin' Woodsball with My Woodhandle Phantom

« Reply #9 on: April 01, 2011, 03:35:10 pm »

On my Phantom, I have an 11" Fr-antom - Freak Back Barrel that I got through WhiteWolf  Undecided(I bought it from him on ebay figuring that it would be safer to do so, considering his recent reputation for unreliable business practices through his regular web site). It works very well, it IS accurate.
To go along with it, I purchased five freak inserts, but use almost exclusively the .682 and .684inserts, and on a rare occasion the .687. It seems that the balls have shrunk enough, that any size insert bigger is HUGE and completely ineffective.
Along with the Freak Setup, I also have the ASP O-ring Modification. The combination of the oring mod and the Freak inserts has almost completely stopped any problem with rollouts. Some people might consider having both overkill but I HATE Rollouts Angry.
I believe that a freak bored Phantom barrel is the Best Setup. I'd rather have the "Cleaner Looking" Standard Phantom Barrel Look than the "Dye Boomstick Look" of the Fr-antom Barrel.

I am REALLY Happy with the Setup! Grin

I'm hoping I can afford that ASP O-ring mod eventually. Kind of hard to justify it though when I don't actually ever use my phantom (haven't played in too long). Might get a chance locally next week though. They've even got an impromptu pump tourney going to happen. Might have to blow the dust off!

Still hoping I'll get a chance to use my Hammerhead barrel. I'll post up what I think if I do.

WhiteWolf  Undecided(I bought it from him on ebay figuring that it would be safer to do so, considering his recent reputation for unreliable business practices through his regular web site)

Recent reputation?  White Wolf had a previous Ebay account under something stupid like "scrod master" but had to close it because of the negative feedback.  That was around the time I bought my son's phantom.  He was 14 at the time and turns 21 this month.  I'd say that is more distant than recent.

Aard, I hope you can play buddy.  Enjoy it if you do!

You know I'll be "all up in here" if I get the chance to pull that trigger again.

I use a bored out barrel similar to the White Wolf one, but made by a different guy. It works very well, and I haven't had any problems with it.  A bored barrel is the way to go.

I run with an original frantom barrel, but on my 'cocker I've shot both a palmers and a hammerhead setup.  Ive got say that either choice would be a great one.  I know alot of ppl have had their doubts about the hammerhead barrels but all I know is that it shot very well once you have "tuned" it to about 280fps. The palmers shoots beautifully, it is unbelievable until youve shot one.  so i guess in order lowest to high, id say hammerhead, frantom and palmers.  Not so to say the hammerhead sucks but that palmers has made me a believer and the frantom ive had longer so I feel more confident in using it.  anyways my 2 pennies i hope it helps.
