Do you guys lube (not oil) your tank regulators?  I have a GA tank that I just did some maintenance on (had to replace the piston and piston seat) and they recommended I use Chemplex in the reg.  Can't seem to find any of that, so what other lubes would work?  Dow 33?

do not use anything other than what the manufacturer recommands, atmoized lube and pressurized tank is not good combination.

Apparently Dow 33 can be substituted for Chemplex, since they're both silicone based.  Verified it when I dug up the manual for my Myth.

I think he's actually fine - the atomized lube and pressurized tank is only a worry if you're trying to put oil in the fill nipple (which is a class 5 'bad idea').  If you're pulling the reg guts out the front, I'd use a bit of Dow33 without concern.

Yes, we've had exploding bottles here in Europe. They were made by "Stako". "Stako" bottles have plastic inner sleeves, not aluminium, like others.

The particular ones had been "lubed" with oil, the oil was ignited by the pressur while the bottles were filled, the plastic melted and bottle went bang.

I don't believe this would happen with a regular bottle, but I wouldn't try.

"Stako" bottles are still sold. They're superlight because of the plastic instead of aluminium  Undecided

as far as i know it was not stako bottle thet exploded. This happened during millenum series in France. The guy put some gun oil in the fill nipple, and when it was filled with HP a combustion destroyed the reg.
also, stako tanks are safe, they got all european certificates (along with german ones which are quite strict). They did not get US certificates tho.
and yes, these are light as hell Smiley
recently they got a longer hydro (10 years not 5)
