I finally have my Phantom back! Took about a month all in all, but at least it's in the same condition as when it was confiscated

Basically I had to go to my neighbor's house, hold him hostage at gunpoint then demand the police turn over my marker - after that, everything went pretty smooth But in all seriousness, the letter apparently did the trick; a Lieutenant called me up, had me promise not to shoot in the backyard anymore, then got on the phone w/the property clerk to release it. I work 8-5 w/a 40 min commute back home, so I had to leave an hour early (which kinda sucks since it's a new job and I only started last week), but I managed to get it back with no other hassles so I'm happy.

thats technically illegal search and seizure to my knowledge and furthermore im fairly certain he would have had to have your permission or a warrant to come onto your property, what state do you live it.

Totally right on skx762. Cops are experts on getting people to unknowingly waive their rights.

I don't know if you're being serious or sarcastic, but what the hey. What they do is a method of getting the job done (trying to keep the peace).
You know though, as a 1SG I was always suprised at what people will admit to or say AFTER they have read their rights and signed that they understand what they mean! You sit them down at a table, they read the whole Article, initial and sign everywhere and then run their mouth about stuff. I used to just shake my head about it all.
As far as the cop thing goes, most are only doing their job best they know how. For every apoc4lypse they probably have 5 drunk bubbas shooting up stop signs with Talons or they have a dude shootin squirrels out of trees in the back yard in the middle of town. Not to mention how many times they get complaints that they have to settle about disgruntled neighbors or grown kids that won't behave.
I wouldn't want their job. Too much silly crap to deal with interspersed with the ocasional random totally serious stuff that could get you killed.
