So I put a 12 through it last night to get some Chrono readings, I will post the results for each shot soon (hopefully by this time tomorrow) for now all you get is the basic setup info for the testing.

Gun: Gargoyle, everything stock except for a "penny mod"

12ie - Leland

Paint - All star bougth 12 days ago, didn't find any serious dimples or deformities in the paint it was in pretty good shape but a blow through test did find that the bore match was not quite what I would have liked it to be.  The fit looked fine at first but the ball did stick at one point in the barrel air traveling past it at two points and two points (these points were 180* apart) in contact with the barrel holding it in place, picture an oval stuck in a circle.

Temp - low 60's

Total shots taken - 34

Chrono speeds (using handheld X Radar)- 288, 297, 291, 000, 309, 273, 289, 279, 285, 289, 276, 303, 278 285, 301, 286, 288, 290, 282, 280, 300, 271, 280, 260, 276, 277, 259, 244, 237, 206, 000, 000
000 means I did not get a reading.  Before the next 12ie is tested I will be turning the velocity down a little.

conclusion to come. I will continue collecting data until I have chrono'd 100 shots and then write a conclusion. In the amount of time I expect this to take I will have had a chance to get this on the playing field at least once maybe twice. I'm also going to search for the smallest bore paint I have on hand and see if I can get a roll out with it.

OPSERVATIONS - I'm assuming that this is due to the lip created by the new feed design but once a ball rolls into the "ready possition" above the breach it pretty well stays there I lifted the gun to about a 85* angle (almost vertical) before the ball rolled back into the feed and out of the "ready possition".  The pump stroke is much smoother than my VSC Phantom w/ Wevo undercocking kit, to give some of you a little closer referance it close to the stroke of my Duckslide.  The trigger is the first slider that I have used on any nelson based gun so I can't compaire it to much of anythign, other than a hot knife through butter, it's just plaine smooth.  There is one issue that RTR is already working on fixing, it deals with the 12ie's they mine are not puncturing all the way due to sitting too low in the bucket, a penny in the bottom of the bucket is my temporary solution until the problem is fixed properly.

Sorry this info is coming so slowly but as it tends to do work, kids and life in general has a habit of getting in the way of paintball time . Stick with me guys. Once the testing is done I will put all of it in one post in a review thread

So I was all set up to test the Gargoyle side by side with the Phantom, even changed the stock Garg main spring for a blue Phantom on so that it would be more "apples to apples" I go to shoot the Phantom for the first time and as I'm bringing the barrel up the paintball falls right out the end of the barrel  So I tip the barrel down on the Gargoyle, nothing happens, I shake it a little trying to get the ball to roll out and still nothing, I raise the gun to the chrono and fire 238fps. So the ball apparently did not stay in the breach but the detents did prevent the roll out, I guess a slow shot is better then a blank. I ended the testing there for the day, I'm going to get some paint that better matches the barrel before I run the test between the two guns.

Between Ammochick (my wife) and I we went through almost our full 1000 rounds this past weekend at Pump Pandamonium, so yeah I would say Garg 11 got some good break in time, The Gargoyle was fondled so much I was tempted to start making wise cracks about people at least taking her out to dinner. I did notice that Fullofpaint from MCB has some very nice action pics of the Gargoyle in his link, located in one of the PP threads over there.

I did get over excited at one point and chopped a ball, on my way off the field I looked at it and thought to myself "damn thats going to take forever to clean" about 3 minutes after arriving at the dead box the gun was ready to go again, I have no doubt if it was my Phantom I would have eather had to play with it dirty or be out several insertions to clean that mess.

We didn't play around alot with Autococker barrels in the Garg while we were there but I will try to do so and get you guys some pics this week.

What is very obvious now that I have been using this gun more is that it is a gun that was made by someone that, not only knew what they were doing in the shop, but knew the kinds of things that players incounter on the field and in the dead box and came up with great user friendly ways of dealing with these problems.

I had a few minutes with a Chrono and the Garg today, it's about 60 *F outside today I used Nelsplat paint which was fairly well matched to the bore and put one 12ie through it, two barrel breaks, and 45 usable shots. After each break I did see a substancial loss of velocity for 3 shots before the velocity came back to the speed it had been shooting before hand.

It's amazing what a little break in time will do. This thing just keeps getting better and better.

I may get a valve set up for my phantom, right now I am using an old punisher bobbed valve,
Do you think I will notice much difference in preformance??
I use a s.s. line with quick disconects so I can get at my valve springs pretty easy.

I've never used a bobbed valve so I can't say one way or the other there, I will say that getting at the springs in the valve is stupid simple with this gun, the back of the valve is only screwed on finger tight, the insert and spring then slide right out.

Hope that helps.
