Okay, so I bought a G3, sold it.  I bought a TPX, and I'm selling it - I want the stability of a stock.  So now I'm on a personal quest to find a semi marker that'll feel/behave/shoot just like my Phantom & Trracer, but be a semi!

Here are the requirements:
ROF: Semi only, nothing full auto or burst or what have you.
Weight: Around 2lbs, with no hopper and no tank.  Plastic is a plus!
Mechanism: Fully mechanical markers only - no electros.  I want to be able to use it even when playing in the rain/mud.  Reliability in such conditions is a big plus.
Elbow: Offset, allowing you to sight down the barrel (or better yet attach a red dot).  No centerfeeds.   I want to use a pocket hopper - either a Winchester or old-style Brass Eagle - so the feed elbow should allow for this.
Input Pressure:  High, and should be fine with both CO2 and HPA.  Efficiency isn't a huge deal since I use CA, but if possible, not a gas hog.
Accuracy: If the stock barrel isn't accurate, it should at least have decent barrels available (a common barrel threading).
Marker Air Setup: Bottomline only (not a fan of backbottle).

So far, the marker that seems to fit most of these requirements is a Tippmann 98 Custom (though it's a little on the heavier side, and may be a gas hog?).  Any other recommendations?

sounds like ur talking about tippmann for sure...

i would suggest a pro/carbine it fits the bill and uses less air then the 98

although an A5 or X7 would do what u want and still allow u better flexibility

I'll look into the Pro/Carbine Smiley

I had an A5 but didn't like it because of the weight, as well as the cyclone.  So I sold that one off too Wink

my teammate has one that he used for quite some time before i got him to get his phantom... he has a 16 inch JJ barrel on his pro/carbine and the thing is a semi sniper rifle for sure... his dad has bin using a TM7 this season but after realizing how expensive throwing ropes of paint can be and seeing that it only takes 1 paint ball to kill / eliminate a player (the phantom will make a believer out of any one it seems Grin ) hes planing on picking up the carbine for Blanding in September its a nice marker if i was to get a semi the pro/carbine with a JJ barrel would be the one for me

but theirs nothing like playing pump

Sounds good Nitro, I'll keep my eyes out for one Smiley

And my budget is around $200 - sorry, forgot to mention.

If it's an older marker, then with luck it'll be a lot lower than that  Grin

Have you considered a Mag?

Switching back and forth from a Mag and a Phantom will be a lot more natural, and it fits all the other criteria that you mentioned.

Pump kits are not too hard to obtain either.

Ooh, me likey.  I just started playing paintball in September, so most of the older guns that aren't Nelsons are unknown to me Smiley  The Mag looks pretty appealing, though.

Used Mags are great deals, get a HPA system and you are good to go.

the answer is simple:
AUTOMAG! Smiley
only drawbacks:
not THAT light (add an ULE body and X-valve with LVL10 for no chops-and it becomes feather-light)
a choice for new barrels is limited (but they are still beeing made) and used ones can be found cheap.
other than that:
accurate, shoots great, reliable, quiet, any feed you want, great trigger, loves both CO2 and HP
If I was to buy a semi I'd get one again. screw vibe! Tongue

i got a 98 custom with a vert air adapter, i love it to death, its a blasty, and the barrel kit it came with (empire, 3 back 1 front) is sweet too!

throw a 3.5oz and pocket hopper on it, get 200 shots (4rounds) and then fill, lots of fun!!!

Tippmann Pro-Carbine for a semi can't be beat and as far a sniper IMO...

16" J&J barrel... ASA Red Dot sight(this pics has a unknown hunting scope)... JCS Folding adjustable stock... bottom line with remote... Empire sound activated hopper... and a homemade bi-pod

I'm going to be picking up a pro carbine tomorrow and I can't wait! The first marker I played with was a pro carbine.  Grin

Gung Ho

My first picture when I read your post was the Tippmann Pro Lite. I love this gun. A Carbine is actually pretty close and a 98 Custom would be the choice, if you wanted a new gun.

VM's are cool too, but rather heavy.

Performancewise a Cocker is the top mechanical semi, in my opinion. But you'd need some knowledge to find a good one and set it up well.
