I have found that when I log in or out, or try to post something I get instead a download prompt. The download says it's from idriders.com, something about an index. My requests still go through but it doesn't change the page I'm on. Now until earlier today I had home publishing installed and the download would tell me it was a home publishing file. I've spoken to an admin(Rayodder) about this and he says that some of you have reported the prompt but that I was the first to get the whole home publishing thing. So if anyone else remembers getting this or is still getting this speak up and lets see if we can find a fix. Bit off topic but, I gets me first Phantom tomorrow, me'sa sooo happy!

Edit: Got a screenshot when it happened as I posted this topic.

I get that once in a while, but not always and haven't been able to see any pattern. I always hit cancel and the prompt disappears. I get this sometimes when I post a reply or mark the forum read.

I suspect that it is a result of the BBS wanting to update the cookie on my end that tells it what messages are new, hours logged on, etc. but I'm clueless about how to fix it.

I just hit cancel, ignore it and move on. Cheesy

Well I just tried using firefox to login and didn't get it so it's probably IE's fault. I suppose we'll just have to deal with it then. I tend to get it everytime I post or login and out. Also when I send private msgs.

Looks like your IE doesn't know how to handle PHP properly, other than windows updates there are much in the way of fixing it.

I only use FF and have never once seen the offending dialog box.  Something to consider.

Same here. But when I used IE, I went through hell daily.

Funny how there isn't any consistent pattern with the problem. I use IE and can go days without a problem, and then that message will pop up. I just hit cancel and most times it won't happen again.

This BBS is the work of developers that are all about programs that are "open source." They usually aren't big fans of Microsoft. They may have developed this program to have the least problems with other programs and developers that share their philosophy about software.

There probably is a way that IE users can adjust their software to be more compatible, but as is often the case with Microsoft, any adjustments to help users enjoy non-Micosoft programs is not covered that well if at all.

I think I found the problem for us IE users.

The file extension .PHP is associated with the Microsoft Picture It program. I never use it so I went to:

1. Control panel.........
2. Folder Options......
3. File types menu inside the Folder Options..........
4. Went to PHP extension and deleted it association with the Microsoft Picture It program.

I'll let you know if I get any more error messages.
