Load-out for Scenario Games?

I'm attending my first scenario game at the end of this month (NJ Nam '09 in New Jersey), so I'm wondering what you guys prefer, paint and air-wise, for these big games. CA or CO2 cartridges? 10rd tubes or pods with a hopper?

I run modified stock. Ten round tubes and a 13ci tank. A half a case is usually more than enough to get me through the weekend. I've also got enough ten round tubes to load up most of that half case at once.

). Play all day without worring about paint or air.

I too will be at this game with my home team. Run with the VC and try to hook up with any of the ERSA teams. (You wil see the Red and white "Eastern Regonal Senario Alliance" patches on our sholders) Ask for Q from the Red Raiders if you can get there early you can hang with us if you like.
That said I would definitly run a CA setup with a hopper for the first time especialy. Then again you have 24 hours of play to find what you want so options are allways good. I will only be running my phantom at night but she will definitly make an apearance.
If you need any other advice or info on senario play I would be glad to help you out.

Take both with you and be prepared.
I like to walk the field before the game if I've never played there before. High places, locations that are easy to dig in and defend, maybe villages, etc lend themselves better to stockclass play for me.
I also like to check out who is playing. If it's all well seasoned scenario players, or milsim folks, that also lends itself better to stockclass play. If most of the crowd are walk-ons in dye shirts and pants, I get our the battle axe cause I know I'm going to have to sling some paint. Those guys just are harder to kill, if you know what I mean!
The size of the field and number of players makes a big difference for me. For me, to play stock class when there are 1000 players to an acre of field is just stupid. Then again, if there is only about 200 players show up for the entire game, then stock class is about as fun as it gets.
The role card you get can make a big difference. If you get picked to be a medic, or engineer, or say a spy, you aren't going to want to have a lot of gear to haul around. If being successful in your role is more important for your team than to defend a bridge or mow down the next group re-inserting, then carrying a lot of gear is going to hinder you, and stockclass might be a better choice.
Many times when there is prop out on the field that mean big points if captured, my sons (who are still skinny and agile, unlike their dad) will drop all their gear and just go for it with no shooter at all. They've scored many, many points on the other team, just because they got there first.
Anyway, I suggest that you take both with you and you'll be prepared. If there is going to be night play, I would take out a semi, unless there a bright moon and a clear night.

Robert - I'm not 100% sure about going yet (need to scrape the cash together and figure out the camping/lodging situation) but I should know by the 15th, and if we go (my brother and I), we're definitely going VC, being Asian and all. Well, Filipino, so not the quite the slanty-eyed variety, but close enough
We started playing in September, so we're both fairly new at paintball, but we really like the tactics/strategy side of things so we'll follow orders the best we can
So it looks like CA is the way to go - makes sense, since why pay for 12ies if the air is free. I think I'll set up my Trracer for open class with a 9oz CO2 bottle and run modified stock on my Phantom with a 13/3000... but I'll bring all the open class parts just in case. Unfortunately, I sold both my semis, so pump is the only way to go.

Not having played in a scenario game or at night for that matter. How can you be certain the person you hit will get out and not wipe off a hit? I know there is an honor system, but ppl wipe off hits in the middle of the day. What makes you think they won't do it under the cover of darkness? Wouldn't you be wasting money and paint playing at night?

That's why I said what I did about a game having mostly seasoned scenarios teams. They are usually very proud of the fact that they play with honor, and usually there's not a problem. All it takes is one person to get caught and the whole team gets a bad reputation. Most scenario teams and milsim teams are very careful about that sort of thing. Many depend on sponsorships to be able to play.
Most games that I play the night rules are that you need to turn the velocity down to 250, and that the ball doesn't even need to break. If you get hit, you call yourself out. That simple.

Makes sense when you put it that way. I guess I'd rather go play with a few seasoned players instead of a bunch of part-timers hehe.

I play with 12 grams and 10 round tubes.
Was just at Judge Dredd, and used 1/3 a bag of 500 and maybe 8 to 10 12s at the most. Was running with my KP all day Saturday and held my own better than most of the semi toters.

I should write a book on s.c. in scenario games.I have been doing scenarios with my phantom for 8 years now .I chose a phantom because it is reliable easily fixed and pretty quiet, not to mention dead on accurate!!I run a red dot to.I started recently using a 13 cbi tank air it is less of a pain and more consistant.I like using a 3.5 too, with this I carry a cheap 12 gram changer and some 12ies just in case.30 tubes(300 rnds)and maybe 1 pod to refill some tubes,You can always bum some paint from a team mate too. Some optional gear is a pistol(tac 8 with spare clip cqb)a grenade, and a camelback,a energybar, pull through squeege. Now remember those are optional equipment. If I am going to stay on field as long as posibble I bring a camelback and a bar,if its an urban type field I may carry the pistol adjust your kit as you see fit.On kits, try it all on make sure it fits you and you are confortable you will have it on for a long time.
I run with semis or other pump players and take positions as quickly as possibble and while opposing players concentrate on me I let the semis work them !!Do not get into long ball fights your just wasting your paint, work into positions to get shots.Another option is go rouge!!! hide, crawl, take shots and move hide repeat, become the v.c.You can get allot done and tie up allot of players. Now the part that sucks, you will be out gunned,if you miss a few shots and your in the open your dead, people cheat and you will shoot people and they will wipe, don't get frustrated know that you are the better player and charlie mike(continue mission)!!
here's a vid of travis afb scenario

more of the same here i play modified stock class and so dose my friend... i was using 12grams but after using a 3.5 and having it last me a hole 24 hour scenario game i don't think ill go back to them less i play a "stock class" game... not to mention at $1.25 a fill at my local shop its cheaper
a friend of mine has a 13ci that he is using as his stock and he ran out before the first day was over he also got a fill just before final battle on the 2nd day since the only way to buy air was all day i switched my tanks before final battle just to be safe we figured he had some ware around 130 good shots give or take per fill on his 13ci 3000psi and i had 240 good shots give or take on my 3.5oz
we counted are empty 10 round tubes and used that as are shots per fill count but with the occasional double feed and dry fire we don't have an exact count

Kind of off topic.. but apoc, make sure you pre-reg for the event, you have 9 or 10 days left to do so, after that if I remember correctly its like $70.
Im going to try to make it as well. Also as others recommended, I'd bring all phantom accessories, you have plenty of time to try out different set ups...

We whould all try to meet up and get a phantom owners shot or two for the froums. Ill probably be the easiest to fins since there will be 70+ ERSA members that could point you in the right direction.
