So I want to anno my phantom so that I can be agg!  It will be a black to "white" dust anno. But I have a few questions.

How many Pieces on a stock phantom + T-Stock?

My barrel accepts freak inserts according to this:

"Stripping and re-anodizing will generally remove up to .001"... A .689 barrel will become a .691 (unless the inside bore is masked). With a two-piece barrel, the back is easily masked, but a one-piece barrel is nearly impossible to mask..."

It will get a bit bigger, will the inserts still fit?

The final "look" will have a ninja laser engraved into the back and "NINJA" stamped through the horizontal feed.

                        Thanks!

I have seen bored out barrels get annoed and still don't have problems with using their inserts, but I have also read a case where someone wouldn't get 2 pieces connected/alligned perfectly (small small difference). I'm sure you'll be fine.

And for parts count it depends on what setup and smaller stuff like ghost rings and trigger shoes

Some here do know allot about this, but I would ask Mike what the best formula would be.
Anno will effect tolerances.

Anodizing does affect tolerences. You have to remember you are stripping off a layer of alum when you strip the color off, then when the process takes place you are growing pores on the alum and these pores will still open so the color will take into the alum. Once it is sealed the pores close up and the color is "dyed" into the alum.

So basically once you strip the gun it takes about a .001 off the metal but depending on how long of a ano they do to it will affect how much the pores grow and so forth.

As for the inserts yes they will fit just fine, your not adding any material to the id of the barrel.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Nate, I had read the thing backwards or something and realised that I was being silly on my way to go paintballing today (45 min drive) - It was pretty fun - I convinced the owner to have a stock class tournament!

EDIT: Also, when someone laser engraves  something do they do it by hand, drawing out the picture, or do they use a machine that copies the picture exactly onto your gun?

i think that i read or heard somewhere that during the acid bath that strips the old anno off it also eats the barrel threads that are in the body, because the threads are a steel helicoil. also i think lazer ingraving is done by a machine. i think t-stocks are 6 parts  but only 4 would need to be annoed.

The stainless inserts you are talking about are the inserts that the thumbscrew and the feed screw into. Yes if not removed the acid eats them away. As for the barrel threads no that isnt stainless those are alum threads that Mike machines into the body.

As for lazer engraving it is done by a machine that is ran off a computer automated software.

I plain on getting into in a year or two  Wink

Okay, now I am COMPLETELY confused about counting parts...
Also who does laser engraving - I want to get a quote.

Talk to Mike at CCI about getting the laser engraving redone.  And listen to a guy who actually gets paid to have ano work done, like Twinky.

And eventually a lazer man too, Joe... How's the weather?

just pull the gun apart and count the parts that need annoing. basically anything that is steel cannot be annoed if you ever want to see them again. there are 9 parts (10 including trigger shoe) from what i can tell that need annoing on the vsc phantom itself, the t stock has 4 parts (maybe 5(cant tell if a part comes off or not))  that need annoing.
