And decided to pneumatic assist one of my Phantoms.

I shot about 150 rounds though it today, it worked fine till i tryed it in play and chopped a ball.  A shell got jammed in the breech and it wasnt able to cycle through it.

Anyways cleaned/rebuilt it and now the gun will cycle but not fire.  As far as i can tell the bolt is coming all the way forward.  I turned up the LPR all the way and that didnt make a difference.

I figure the ball break was either caused by me running the pressure to low to fully cycle at higher ROF or i happened to shortstroke it.

Any suggestions?

I now believe the oversized SS line is putting too much pressure on the power tube assemly.  Im going to switch to macroline tommoro and see if it solves it.

Macro line won't change pressure at all. Only a reg can do that. A smaller line will affect the flow but not the psi.

A lighter valve spring will help if you think that the valve is not openning.

I wasnt refering to the operating pressure, i meant that the SS hose is too long.  The hose is actually pushing up the back of the powertube even though the thumscrew is tightened all the way.

I should have worded it a little better Cheesy

I know next to nothing when PA systems are concerned. But from a mechanical stand point, I can tell you why Nelsons have such a hard time with it.
Most of it I think has to do with recocking pressure.
On Snipers/Sheridans, lower pressures are easier to achieve, than with a Nelson valve. This will help a Sniper with a PA cocking system. On the Nelsons though, we're always expecting to use that heavy duty hammer spring, and that's where the ram has a bit of a problem.
Proper timing of the ram and pump arm is key, but the main spring may still require more force. Running the LP Rock reg. at its highest (I beleive that's 125psi) would also help, though the main spring may still be a problem.
What I would do is find the lightest main spring to use for the hammer. Then lighten the hammer as well. Maybe by 50%.
Than find a nice light valve spring.
Get rid pf the front portion of the TPC to open the bolt, and keep the pressure coming into the valve to 450 minimum.
Just a thought.

Im running the blue mainspring and the ram doesnt seem to have a problem cocking it with the reg at half capacity.

Today i switched theout the backbottle and put in the dropout changer from my micro, and it shot flawlessly with it.

So i now believe the problem is due milling tolerences being slightly off on my backbottle asa.

After switching to marcoline to help relieve the pressure the oversized macroline put on the powertube, i was able to get it to shoot every other shot.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

How is this done?
Would probly solve that corkscrew effect the TPC creates when i break paint Cheesy

I used a hack saw.

You will have to adjust velocities though the reg after this mod.

I attached a bucket changer to the backbottle asa and it still missfired, so i put on the dropout changer and it worked fine.

So i think im just going to use a a dummy 12g and some macroline.

I think i will pass on the TPC mod since it already bulkly/heavy enough with just one reg on it.

Heres the latest setup.

Now i just have to decide wether i want to run the reg vertical so it looks sorta like a bucket changer off a VSC or leave it under the grip.

Is it ok to 'smite' his Karma for doing this to the phantom?

What is a pneumatic assist? Does it make re cocking-easier?

It works somewhat like an autococker.  The pump handle is connected to a pneumatic switch that controls a ram used to recock the gun.  The pump stroke goes from about an 1in down to 1/8-1/4".

I dont really consider it a pump, but then again we dont have any pump games at my field so it gives me an advantage in openclass.  And the way i designed it, im able to quickly convert it back to a conventional steup by swaping the grip/barrel.
